European football is bringing some mouth-watering knockout games this week! Here are our thoughts!
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich
Bayern have lost 2 of their last 5 games in all competitions. Nevertheless, they did get past PSG in the Round of 16 with a 3-0 aggregate win. The Bavarians have been strong on the road in the UCL – yet to lose and having recorded victories over Barcelona, Inter and PSG. The last time these 2 sides met in Europe ended in a 3-2 victory for the Citizens. We expect this to be a goal-packed night, with over 2.5 goals, but Manchester City to win.
Real Madrid vs Chelsea
Real Madrid whooped Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate to get to the quarterfinals. However, they have been inconsistent in recent games – battering Barcelona 4-0 but losing 3-2 to Villareal. They are yet to be beaten at home in the Champions League this season and considering Chelsea’s form are likely to record another win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Chelsea has not recorded a win in their last 4 fixtures. The London outfit goes into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to the Wolves. Their away form in the Champions League has been 50/50, having lost 2 and won 2 so far. The 2 sides met back in the 2022 quarterfinals, where Chelsea won 5-4 on aggregate. However, the 2 sides are contrasting this season, and we expect Real Madrid to win, and over 2.5 goals.
Manchester United vs Sevilla
Man United goes into the game on the back of 2 consecutive EPL victories. They now face their 3rd Spanish team in the Europa knockout stages, after dispatching Barcelona and Real Betis. They have lost just 1 home game in this campaign, in the opening fixture against Sociedad, and are likely to be difficult to break down at Old Trafford.
Sevilla has been on-and-off this season, as they now find themselves 13th in the La Liga table. Nevertheless, they`ve comfortably dispatched Fenerbahce in the previous round with a 3-0 aggregate score. They have been a problem for United in the past, as they’ve won 2 of their last 3 meetings and drew 1. With that in mind, we expect it to be a tight game on Thursday, with under 3.5 goals and both teams to score.
We hope you have a great week!
