Currie Cup action continues this weekend with 4 matches taking place and we are going to focus ont 2 of Saturday’s games, featuring Pool A teams, the Bulls vs the Griffons and Western Province vs the Cheetahs.
Over to “Rob the Ringer”
BULLS V GRIFFONS
Match Handicap: Bulls -40.5
The Bulls are currently top of the Pool A log at this point in the season and they are on 21 points on the overall table.
Their solid form throughout the tournament and fixtures they have played has resulted in them remaining undefeated so far, despite losing their 100% record in a 34-34 draw in last week’s match against the Cheetahs at the Free State Stadium.
The Griffons have had a terrible campaign so far and their form has shown no signs of turning, with them losing all 5 of their matches so far and sitting in last place on the Pool A log.
The Griffons will be desperate to get on the winning side of things soon, but after another loss last weekend 39-17 away against Western Province, this is very unlikely considering they are taking on the current best side in the competition.
Head-To-Head
These sides have met once in this year’s campaign prior to them clashing this weekend, where the Bulls won easily winning the match 52-10.
ROB THE RINGER’S PLAY
The Bulls should be far too strong for this Griffons side
Bulls -40.5 at 1.88
WESTERN PROVINCE VS CHEETAHS
Match Handicap: Western Province +2.5
Western Province have not had the best start to the campaign, and they currently sit in 5th place on the overall log and 3rd place in Pool A, with 12 points to their name after losing 3 and winning 2 of their 5 games.
Western Province gained some confidence with a comfortable win over the Griffons last weekend where they won by 22 points.
The Cheetahs will be happy with where they currently sit in the Currie Cup and they are in 2nd place in Pool A just 3 points behind the Bulls after winning 3, losing 1 and drawing 1 game.
They proved they are amongst the favourites in this competition when they drew to the Bulls last weekend and although this game will be a challenge for the Cheetahs, they will go in with confidence after the result against the Bulls.
Head-To-Head
These sides met in week 2 of the competition in Bloemfontein and the Cheetahs ran away with a comfortable 20-point victory to win 37-17.
ROB THE RINGER’S PLAY
I am confident in the Cheetahs and am going to back them on an extended handicap
Cheetahs -8.5 (handicap) at 2.80
