We`ve got an exciting weekend in English football, with the FA Cup semifinals and a loaded Premier League schedule! Have a look at our thoughts on the upcoming games!
Manchester City vs Sheffield United
The Citizens will be in a jubilant mood after advancing to the UCL semifinals. Although their high-scoring form came to an end in the 1-1 draw against Bayern, it is likely to resume on Saturday. The Citizens have been in unstoppable form in the FA Cup, scoring at least 3 goals in 3 of their 4 games. Overall, it is hard to see Sheffield as the team breaking their stride.
Sheffield has played in great form, sitting 2nd on the Championship table, and winning 6 of their last 7 competitive games. However, they`ve failed to beat Manchester City in the last 8 times the 2 sides met. The last 3 meetings ended in a simple 1-0 victory to the Citizens, however, considering only a couple of defences kept Haaland at bay this season, we expect Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals.
Brighton will be in a bright mood after securing a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in Premier League. De Zerbi has gotten his side to play attractive football, as they`ve now avoided a defeat in 8 of their last 10 games in all competitions. The Wembley Stadium is not their favourite spot, as they`ve failed to claim a single win at the iconic venue, however, their current form suggests they`ll shake up the United side.
Manchester United took an embarrassing fall out of the Europa League with a 3-0 defeat in Seville. A defensive disaster and a list of key injuries sum up the Devils` recent run, however, their FA Cup has been exceptional as they`ve won all 4 games with a 3-1 score. On H2H, the Devils have won 3 of their last 5 encounters with the Seagulls with just 1 of the 5 ending in under 2.5 goals, although the former has won the last 2 meetings. It is difficult to predict a winner, but we expect both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the match.
The Top 4 race continues with 2 contenders facing off in London. Tottenham took a surprising hit in their 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth, ending a 5-game unbeaten run in all competitions. A win at St. James` Park would level them on points with the hosts, although their recent away form has been horrendous – winning just 1 of their last 5 games on the road.
Newcastle has beaten Tottenham in the reverse fixture this season. The recent winning form of 5 consecutive PL games came to a shocking end with a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa. However, their home form suggests they will be back to unbeaten ways as they`ve lost just 1 home game this season. The last 4 times these 2 sides met ended with over 2.5 goals, so considering the fortification of St. James` Park, we expect Newcastle United to win and over 2.5 goals.
We hope you have a great weekend!
