Premier League Weekend Preview
Newcastle will continue their European chase as they sit in 8th place on the Premier League table. The Magpies go into the game in decent form, having beaten West Ham 4-3, drew 1-1 to Everton, and beating Fulham 1-0 last weekend. The Magpies will certainly remember their last encounter against Tottenham last April, where they bulldozed Tottenham in a 6-1 victory, although Tottenham took their revenge in the reverse fixture this season where they won 4-1 at the Tottenham Stadium. Going into this fixture, the Magpies have been unbeaten in 4 consecutive home games in the Premier League, however, they`ve won only 2 of their last 7 games at home.
Tottenham will look to continue their stay in the Top 4 as they currently sit 4th, level on points with Villa in 5th. Spurs have enjoyed a solid run of form going into the game, losing just 2 of their last 10 games in the Premier League, and have gone without a defeat in the 3 games leading up to the Newcastle trip. Spurs have enjoyed a trip to St. James` Park aside from the embarrassing defeat last season, as they have beaten the hosts in four of their last six visits to St James' Park. The major concern for Spurs will be their away form – the London side has won just 3 of their last 10 trips in the Premier League. Overall, both sides look similar in form, and this is a fixture that you can never predict considering the last 2 results. We certainly think it will be a high-scoring game, therefore, we anticipate both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
Bournemouth vs Manchester United
The bottom half of the table escape continues for Bournemouth as they look to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Luton last weekend. Before the defeat, Iraola`s side was running in decent form, having gone 5 games undefeated, winning 4 of those. However, their recovery plan does not look as simple as they face United and Villa in the next 2 games. The Cherries have not had a good spell at the Vitality Stadium against United as of late, as they`ve won just 2 of their last 6 of these fixtures in Bournemouth, and they`ve already lost to the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City at home this season. However, the confidence boost for the Cherries will be their 3-game unbeaten run at home heading into the game, and the fact that they`ve thrashed United 3-0 at Old Trafford this season.
Manchester United`s Champions League hopes are fading by the game as they`ve now gone on a 3-game winless run in the Premier League, dropping 7 points in just 3 games. They go into the game having let a 2-1 lead against Liverpool slip and settle for a 2-2 and preceding the draw they`ve embarrassed themselves having let a 3-2 lead against Chelsea disappear and turn into a 4-3 defeat in just 2 final minutes of the game. The pressure continues to mount on ten Hag, and the odds are not in their favour as they`ve gone 3 games without a win on the road in the EPL. At the moment, it is hard to predict the performance United deliver on the day, and at the same time, it is almost impossible to write them off completely. However, considering their attacking threat in recent games and the manager`s job likely at stake, we expect them to piece together a victory. Therefore, we expect Manchester United to win, and both teams to score.
