Premier League Matchday 11 Preview

The Premier League resumes this weekend with some games that promise an avalanche of goals! Here`s what we`ve picked for this weekend!

Fulham vs Manchester United

Although in 14th place on the Premier League table, a win for Fulham will level them to the visitors at 15 points. The London outfit goes into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory against Ipswich, however, have not won in 2 consecutive Premier League fixtures. The Cottagers have had a mixed bag in the EPL this season, with 3 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses, however, considering that United is all over the place at the moment, Craven Cottage might be the right place for Fulham to cause problems for the Devils.

The 3 consecutive wins in all competitions did not continue as United took a huge tumble against Man City and Newcastle consecutively – conceding 6 goals and scoring 0 in the 2 fixtures at Old Trafford. Breaking unwanted records and what seems like a completely disinterested team – it is likely going to be a challenge for Ten Hag to pull off a comfortable result on Saturday, even though they have not lost at Fulham since 2009. At the moment, it is difficult to back United, but we do expect a couple of goals here. Therefore, we expect both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

Newcastle United vs Arsenal

Newcastle looked unconvincing after a 2-0 defeat to Dortmund, having been held to a draw against Wolves last week, however, Howe quickly forced his players into action with a dominant 3-0 victory over Man United in the Carabao Cup. The Magpies still have an impressive run of form – having lost just 1 out of their last 11 games in all competitions. They are certainly in for a challenge against the Gunners, as they won just 1 of their last 6 Premier League meetings against the London side. Just 1 of their last 6 meetings finished with over 2.5 goals.

Arsenal go into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Carabao Cup - in contrast to the hosts. Still, they are yet to taste defeat in the top flight this season, having thrashed Sheffield United by 5 goals last weekend. Arteta`s side also holds the best away defensive record in the league – having conceded just 2 goals so far. They have also gotten the best of the Magpies on their last trip to St. James` Park, but considering the quality of both sides, we expect one team to come out based on fine margins. Therefore, we expect Arsenal to win, but under 2.5 goals.

Tottenham vs Chelsea

If results don`t go their way, Tottenham will need a win to return to the Premier League summit. Spurs go into the game yet to taste defeat in the EPL and on the back of 4 consecutive victories in the English topflight, with the latest 2-1 victory over Palace. Additionally, Tottenham have fortified the London Stadium this season – having won all 4 of their league games at home this season and have beaten Chelsea 2-0 at home last season.

Chelsea gave their fans a glimpse of hope with a decent display against Arsenal, although followed up with a 2-0 defeat against Brentford last weekend. Poch`s side, however, did manage to come up with a response in a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rover in the Carabao Cup, giving them the bit of confidence they needed for the London Derby. 4 of their last 5 meetings against Tottenham ended in under 2.5 goals. Although the Blues may bring the ‘London Derby’ attitude as they did against Arsenal, the gaping quality between the 2 sides is apparent. Therefore, we expect Tottenham to win, but under 2.5 goals.
