Premier League Preview Matchday 7 Preview
Cancel all of your Saturday plans as the Premier League is bringing us non-stop action in the English top flight through the whole day. Here`s what we`re keeping our eye on!
Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace
Man United continued to pick up winning momentum with a dominant 3-0 victory over Palace in the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils went trigger-happy mid-week, and it is unlikely that we`ll see a low-scoring game this time. United have beaten Palace at Old Trafford in 2 consecutive EPL fixtures, and considering their home run, it seems unlikely for them to get anything less than a win.
The Eagles took just 2 wins in their 6 EPL fixtures, although they are just 1 point away from the hosts on the table. Their mid-week performance against a reserve United side looked very uninspiring and it would be hard to put on a worse performance. However, a win is still difficult to see. We usually see a goal-packed show when these 2 sides meet at Old Trafford, therefore, we expect over 2.5 goals and Manchester United to win.
Newcastle are proving their worth at the top level, after beating Sheffield 8-0 in the EPL, and to put the cherry on the icing, knocked Man City out of the Carabao Cup in a 1-0 victory. The Magpies return to a fortified St. James` Park, where they`ve not lost to Burnley in the EPL in 6 consecutive fixtures, and with the home crowd behind them, we expect them to continue their high-scoring run this time.
Although just 1 point in the EPL, Burnley are still kicking in the Carabao Cup after a 4-0 victory over Salford. However, they are likely to get back to a grim reality – they are yet to secure a league win this season and have conceded in each of their 5 games. Considering they`ve lost to a recovering United side, a well-drilled Newcastle outfit is likely to be a nightmare. We expect Newcastle United to win and over 2.5 goals.
Tottenham are faced with another challenge having drawn 2-2 to Arsenal. Postecoglou`s men are now in an impressive 4th place with 14 pts., thanks to their efficient attack. However, their defence ought to be punished by Liverpool, having conceded 5 goals in their last 3 games. Furthermore, their last win against Liverpool at home was back in 2017.
Liverpool are yet to record a loss this season in all competitions, having beaten Leicester 3-1 in the Carabao Cup, and having little problem against a confident West Ham side in a 3-1 win. Klopp`s side has not lost to Tottenham in 12 consecutive games and have won in 4 of their last 5 trips to Spurs. One thing for certain is that we are in for a high-scoring game, and we expect both teams to score, but Liverpool to win.
