Mid-week preview – FA Cup & EPL
From the FA Cup replays round to the Premier League - English football seems to keep giving us exactly what we want! Check out our thoughts for the week!
Tuesday: FA Cup Replays – Wolverhampton vs Liverpool
Liverpool fans will be asking questions from their side as their worrying form continued after being forced into a draw in their first FA Cup clash with Wolves, as the Scousers went on to take a 3-0 beating from Brighton in the EPL. With the Premier League trophy now far beyond their reach, Klopp will need to deliver a masterclass performance if they are to get back on track.
Things are not looking good for Wolverhampton as they took a tumble out of the EFL Cup at the hand of Nottingham Forest, following their draw with Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup. However, they will have a spark of confidence in the camp coming off a 1-0 victory over West Ham in the Premier League.
We predict both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
Wednesday: Premier League – Crystal Palace vs Manchester United
Confidence will be through the roof in Ten Hag`s camp after Manchester United won 2-1 in the Manchester Derby. The Red Devils now have a chance to go 2 points above City if they are to beat Palace. With incredible form, a 9-game winning streak, and a threating frontline, it is unlikely that United`s momentum will be put on hold at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace go into the fixture sitting in 12th spot on the Premier League table. The Eagles have gone 3 games without a win in all competitions, including a 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup. Viera`s side has tubmled against out-of-form sides like Chelsea and Tottenham, giving a fair indication of what will happen against an in-form Manchester side.
Both sides have won 2 of the last 5 times they have met in the Premier League. However, with the form Man United are currently playing in, it is difficult to see the Eagles stopping. We predict Manchester United to win.
Thursday: Premier League – Manchester City vs Tottenham
The Citizens will be looking to bounce-back fast as they have now gone 2 games without a win. A 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup was followed up with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League and the Citizens have dropped 8 points adrift from Arsenal. Going back to the Eithad will be a great boost to their shot of trying to close down the large league gap.
Tottenham are going into the game on the back of an unpleasant Arsenal defeat. Sitting 5th on the Premier League table, they can soon be out of the Top 5 as just 2 points are keeping them away from Fulham in 6th. We`ve said this earlier - Spurs are a hit and miss team this season and are likely to struggle against City.
Surprisingly, Tottenham won their 2 last encounters with City and have proven to be a problem for them. However, City have put on a more convincing football display so far and we predict the Citizens will win and over 2.5 goals in the match.
