Trans Tasman Super Rugby, 11th June

Last weekend was a nasty outing but this time around It’s the last weekend of full Trans-Tasman action and let’s look to finish this comp on a high!

Hurricanes vs Reds – Friday 11 June @ 09:05, Wellington

The Reds recovered from a bad start in this competition to producing a victory and a rather close effort against the Blues as well. This week they line up for the last time in 2021 having to try and tame the Canes at the Caketin. The Kiwis might still be hoping for a miracle from their countrymen in the other matches but I think they know full well that they blew their shot against the Brumbies last week.

It’s tough having much faith in a Reds side away from home, playing without James O’Connor and with a different looking backline to the one that was successful in Super Rugby AU. The Hurricanes got stuck in neutral last week but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them find fifth gear of their attacking motor in this final encounter. I do however expect a Reds side with nothing to lose to also find their way to the goal line as well.

Betolimp Bets:

HT/FT – Reds / Hurricanes @ 5.60
The Canes might need a half time kick up their backside to realise they should probably give their fans one last effort to shout about in 2021.

Filipo Daugunu to score the first try and the Hurricanes to win @ 17.00
The Reds’ wingers have been in superb tryscoring form of late.

Last Tryscorer: Dane Coles @ 13.00
Old Colesy loves a meat pie – he managed the only try for the Canes last week.

Brumbies vs Highlanders – Friday 11 June @ 11:45, Canberra

The Landers finished like they were late for the last train home in putting 9 tries past the Tahs last time out. The men from Dunedin will look to take this attacking confidence into their deciding clash in Canberra knowing that merely beating the Brumbies is unlikely to be enough.

In need of giving their hosts a beating that will leave them unable to sit for a week could lead to the visitors being the ones sent to detention though. Despite lying in sixth spot on the log the Brumbies have proven the toughest of the Aussie sides (they tasted victory over the Blues and pushed the Saders to the brink in Christchurch). The Australian sides have struggled in this comp but it will be up to the Brumbies to leave the New Zealanders with one final lesson – we aren’t quite the pushovers you thought we were.

Betolimp Bets:

HT/FT: Highlanders / Brumbies @ 12.00
In trying to not only win but get the bonus point the Landers might just fluff their lines late on trying to be overly expansive.

Jona Nareki to score the first try and Brumbies to win the game @ 26.00
The Highlanders will start the game looking to score as many as possible.

Last Tryscorer: Billy Pollard @ 23.00
I’ve heard a bit of talk about the youngster and am looking forward to seeing him in action.

Best Bet Friday Double:

Brumbies +13.5 onto Reds +18.5 @ 1.74
